With summer in full swing, fruiting plants (including beans) are growing and giving us a
bounty of fresh, regional produce!
We wanted to highlight the delicious romano beans we have in from Littlest Acre Organics. Romano beans are high in fibre, and so taste great and are great for you.
Tysh, FarmHub lead developer, splits the beans along the stem and cooks with herbs and butter.
Colleen, warehouse and production manager, cuts them into chunks and sautees with butter and chili flakes.
We've found a site with 10 great romano beans recipes for you here. Ideas include enjoying with pasta and sauce, braising, enjoying with almonds as well as strawberries, and paired with salmon.
a quick and easy way to enjoy these beans is with butter and garlic (who doesn't love garlic?).
You'll need:
Romano Beans
Garlic
Butter
Salt
Parmesan (optional)
Chili (optional)
Steps:
cut the beans into 3-5 inch pieces
slice garlic cloves
bring a large pot of water to boil, blanch the beans, cooking for 5 minutes. Remove immediately and drain.
Melt butter in large saucepan
Add garlic slices, cooking until translucent (do not let it burn!)
stir in beans for 3-5 minutes
add salt, Parmesan, and chili or paprika
This dish makes an excellent side and really stars the beans, front and centre. We hope you enjoy!
