Volunteer with the FarmHub
Are you passionate about local food systems? Do you have availability bi-weekly on Tuesdays this spring and summer? Join South Island Farmhub’s warehouse team as a volunteer!
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join us in organizing farmer shipments of locally grown and harvested crops into customer orders. This hands-on opportunity offers a chance to delve into our community’s sustainable food economy while working directly with beautifully grown, seasonal delights!
Our warehouse team operates in a quick-paced, fun environment. You can expect some heavy lifting, loud noises, and variable temperatures throughout the seasons. We recommend warm clothes and suitable footwear.
Volunteers can expect to go home with local veggies in exchange for your time! Holidays and vacations are easily accommodated.

FarmHub Food Production Assistant
As a Production Assistant you will connect our community to healthy, local food. You will be responsible for packing & fulfilling orders, delivery driving, light processing operations, product quality control and customer experience. In this role, you will be trained on the sales and fulfillment capacities inherent in the order system; receive farm orders from our suppliers and farmers, then build and deliver the outgoing customer orders. This is a summer position.

Food Processing Assistant
As a Food Processing Assistant with partner program Kitchen Connect, you will connect our community to healthy, local food by supporting food processing and production. You will be trained to safely operate our commercial kitchen equipment so you can process in-house products made from local produce, from vegetable washing to light processing, and more! This is a summer position.
Anticipated start date: flexible. As early as May 13 2024
VCFHS Events & Communications Assistant
As Events and Communication Assistant, you will provide support for our South Island FarmHub and Kitchen Connect programs. You will design and print outreach materials including storytelling and engaging with social media audiences. You will attend markets and events to represent and promote our programs and fundraising efforts; some weekends required. We are looking for someone who values flexible, collaborative, creative work environments and who believes in the power of in-person, online and virtual tools to create, connect and engage with the community.
This is a summer position.
