The BC Government is investing in three new food hubs, in Victoria, Cowichan Valley, and Bowser. The announcement comes with up to $2 million to purchase food-processing equipment and other startup costs.
The South Island FarmHub, a project of the Victoria Community Food Hubs Society, is so happy to be a partner in this work! The hubs will help small and medium-scale businesses access shared food and beverage processing space and equipment to increase their production and sales. Here on the South Island, that will look like partnering with farmers and food-processors to create value-added products.
We are excited for the new support, resources and partnerships! This announcement brings a great opportunity for the growth of the FarmHub as a community resource and local food economy support.
