Work Experience Opportunities Grants-
Multiple Positions

We have three (3) work experience placements available- these positions are funded with Work Experience Opportunities Grants from the BC Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation. 


To be considered for a position, and due to the nature of the grants, applicants must be either:

  • an individual qualified to receive BC income or disability assistance, or

  • qualified to receive assistance from a Treaty First Nation that is funded through the Federal Department of CrownIndigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada; or

  • qualified to receive assistance from a First Nation Administering Authority that administers an Income Assistance Program on behalf of Indigenous Services Canada.

Note: applicants do not need to be actively in receipt of income or disability assistance payments from the BC Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation (see BC social supports eligibility) or the Government of Canada.


Note: for applicants who are receiving income assistance, the stipend associated with this position is exempt from BC income eligibility calculations and will not affect the eligibility of individuals participating. Individuals will need to declare the stipend to the ministry for tracking purposes.



Production Worker / Driver (2): This role will support warehouse operations and back-up driving. Duties will include aggregation and receiving farmer/supplier shipments, building wholesale and home delivery orders, filling invoices with efficiency and accuracy, and supporting home delivery as a driver. This is a dynamic role that requires adaptation, multitasking, and communication. The work environment is fast-paced and systems-based, but also upbeat and high energy. Project time will be directed to developing vehicle sharing/safety processes.  Attention to detail is important. Sunny disposition is  an asset as this is a customer facing position.  Working on site at the warehouse in Esquimalt Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (covering time off requests as needed). There are two positions available for this role.

A Class 5 License is required for making deliveries.  If this is a barrier to your application, please go ahead and apply, and elaborate in your cover letter.

  • Start date: As early as May 2nd, 2022

  • Length: 12 weeks

  • Hours: 15 hrs / week 

  • Pay (by stipend): $600 biweekly  (or $3,600 for the full 12-week period)


Administrative Assistant: to assist with customer service and sales development.  Liaise with wholesale and home delivery customers to ensure a successful and growing customer service interaction. Assist with weekly e-platform tasks, such as bin fees and targeting dormant customers. Assist with marketing and logistical planning to new delivery areas. Build and report on ordering trends and product sales. Previous online customer service experience is an asset.  Work from home.

  • Start date: August 2022

  • Length: 20 weeks

  • Hours: 7.5 hrs / week 

  • Pay (by stipend): $300 biweekly  (or $3,000 for the full 20-week period)

This role is part relationship/community building and part facilities management with operational oversight of the facility and a small team. You will have a hand in developing, creating and implementing systems to ensure the food hub is welcoming, operational, clean, safe and profitable. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who enjoys working with their peers, is detail-oriented, has a strong focus on building relationships in the food community and experience in the workings of a commercial kitchen or processing centre.
